Accelerated Weathering (Atlas Weather-O-Meter)

  1. Unrusted and rusted steel with 3 mils dry film of OVER RUST, dried 20 mins. at 300 exposed 400 hrs. — No attack
  2. As above using 2 mils dry film of OVER RUST plus finish coat — No attack

Exterior Weathering

  1. 2 and 3 mils dry film of OVER RUST exposed outside for 2 years on rusted and unrusted — Unchanged
  2. 2 mils dry film of OVER RUST topcoated with solvent based finish on rusted and unrusted steel exposed outside for 2 years — Unchanged
  3. As (2) using water based top-coat exposed for 6 months — Unchanged

Continuous Distilled Water Immersion

  1. 3mils dry film of OVER RUST, dried 20 minutes at 300F on unrusted and rusted steel after 5,000 hrs. — No corrosion
  2. As above but air dried and immersed 500 hours — No corrosion

Steam Exposure at 212 F

  1. tab 3 mils dry film of OVER RUST on unrusted and rusted steel after 50 hours — Unchanged
  2. Unrusted, uncoated steel panel after 50 hours — Thick rust layer with deep pitting
